Style Icon: Olivia Palermo

True confession…I love YouTube. I learn so much there and it has shaped my life in fresh new ways. Some of my favorite syle gurus hang out there. Olivia Palermo is a model, actor, and style moderator for Piperlime (go see this site: http://www.piperlime.com). I like the classic edginess of her look. It’s a look that can be duplicated with confidence. Check her out in this video:

If you are not inspired by her then please have someone check your pulse! Here are some of her everyday looks – let’s deconstruct…

She is big on chic accessories. A blue statement necklace (blue always works with black). The fur collar, leather leggings, and black lace up booties. Target had a wonderful fur collar last season. Smart and chichi!

I have already duped this next outfit. Everytime I wear it, I get compliments.

Here is a look any woman, any size can pull off. The same leather leggings are used here in an easy daytime look. A shirt under an oversized sweater with a black and white bag is the last word in streetwear. Polished nails and a gold cuff finish the impeccable Palermo mode.

Here again is a gorgeous ensemble that is very wearable. The dress with wide belt and high booties is so doable. Don’t you love how the booties in a lighter color make your legs look longer? Notice the play she giving the statement necklace…

Animal print shorts and a dotted top with stacked bracelets elevates this shorts outfit from casual to casual elegance. Did anyone know that shorts could be elegant? Consider yourself schooled…

And those shoes are one of my favorites from last year but they feel timeless.

This goes to show us that a more romantic look works on a city style woman. The printed skinnies rolled at the ankle works nicely against the ballet flats. Paired with a cascading organza tank and topped with a crocheted sweater – how does she do it? Very well, I say…

Another style surprise…bright yellow Old Navy coat over a chunky sweater and velvet slippers. The bag has some petal detailing for interest. Oh so nice…

I could go on because she simply delights me but that will do for now. I hope you gleaned some usable notions for your own style. There are more style icon studies to come in future posts. Who are your style gurus? I’d like to check them out. Leave a comment below.
